Keeping Busy, Keeping it Classic
Updates on both RetroQuest and White Box
Haven’t posted an article in a while because I’m juggling dragons these days. These days have been all publisher work all the time. The White Box product line continues trucking on. I’ve got White Box Quarterly #2 dropping on April 1st. Then, in May, I’ll be releasing White Box: Dungeon Adventures. If the proofs come back correct, Dungeon Adventures will release with both print and PDF available on DTRPG - if there’s an error, the Print will come later.
White Box Quarterly #2 will include:
The mystical Stonespeaker Dwarf heritage.
The rugged magic of the Runecaster class.
Fungal freaks and strange constructs like the Dwarven Smith-Sentinel, the Fungal Spider, and the Lichen Lurker - just to name a few!
A dragon, long frozen in an icy tomb shall be reawakened if the players can’t recall The Bladesmith’s Prayer.
Forge new wonders with the Anvil of the True Smith and shatter wood and stone with the Hammer of Demolition!
Finally, new rules to make underground exploration more dynamic with rules for avalanches, cave-ins, tight spaces, and bioluminescence are provided!
Five Levels. Four Heritages. Three Classes. Two Dice. One Dungeon.
Go back to the beginning. To a time when adventure was just on the other side of a dungeon door. When the only thing between you and certain death was a sword, a spell, and the roll of a die. When the only thing staving off the horrors in the darkness was a flickering torchlight and fading courage. Return to a simpler time.
White Box: Dungeon Adventures is a streamlined stand-alone, old school rules set that serves as an introduction to more complex White Box games like White Box Cyclopedia. It facilitates rapid play that introduces new players to vintage style fantasy games, allows time-strapped veterans to get straight to the dungeon, and lets Referees focus on the foundational elements of play that have endured for fifty years.
White Box: Dungeon Adventures includes:
Three Classes: Fighter, Cleric, & Magic-User
Four Heritages: Dwarf, Elf, Halfling & Human
Character advancement to 5th level
30 spells for both Clerics and Magic-Users
A complete bestiary of over 30 monsters
Over 50 magic items for use in any White Box game.
Rules for quickly and easily generating treasure hoards and dungeons.
Advice on running stand-alone campaigns or using White Box: Dungeon Adventures as a springboard to other White Box games.
In addition to these White Box projects, we’re moving full speed ahead with the RetroQuest: Sword & Power Fantasy Roleplaying production and looking to launch the Kickstarter in mid-to-late May, with a funding goal of $10,000. Backers will be able to back for a full color PDF delivered through DriveThruRPG, a full-color off-set print run hardcover physical book with a PDF, or a hardcover, GM screen, PDF combo. We’re keeping it small, with just one stretch goal planned for now and I’ll speak more to that later.
Behold, the Draconis Maximus!

Really looking forward to Retroquest! Will it be smith sewn? All the best.
