What a great perspective and yes, opportunity for growth. I love many things about solo play and one of those things is always wondering where my character/party is headed next. When I’m not playing, my imagination will run wild with suggestions and ideas for the next session. I really love what’s it’s done for my creativity. 😊
I have taken so much shit over the years about playing solo (I'm looking at you Joe), it is nice to see other, well-respected people acknowledging the greatness that solo gaming can bring to the table. Glad you have joined us James, enjoy!
If solo rpg inspires you, maybe you could create one for White Star? :)
I started to play solo a while ago to test new systems and play adventures since my group is already busy with a massive campaign. I also see it as a massive help to become a good GM by improvising and knowing which tables to use to create richer encounters and stimulates new ideas.
I think Kal-Arath is a good solo games since it’s has clear procedures for exploration and encounter descriptions. It’s fun to see the adventure unfold as you play.
Check out FORGE rpg that is closer to a OSR playstile and fantasy setting. It has good procedures and tables too. You easily use it with your whitebox game.
The rabbit hole is deep. Come, join us. WE ALL SOLO DOWN HERE! XD
Perfect write up of Solo RPGs! I'm enjoying your adventures in Kal-Arath too

Will look forward to follow your endeavours! Also, where are those cool dice from?
Welcome!
I also poo-poo-ed solo play for a long time, until I decided that I needed to do it in order to create the systems I was dreaming of.
